PRESS RELEASE - BlueKai receives a $10.5 million investment

BlueKai, creator of the first online intent data exchange, today announced that the company has closed its Series B round of financing totaling $10.5 million. Battery Ventures led the round, and Redpoint Ventures returns as a second round investor. Financing will be used to expand client support services and to further develop new product functionalities for the BlueKai Exchange and the BlueKai Registry. Satya Patel, Principal of Battery Ventures, joins the BlueKai board of directors, bringing more than a decade of online media experience with previous product management roles at Google and DoubleClick.

BlueKai partners with data sellers to aggregate anonymous shopping and research behaviors across the Internet. The data is then auctioned to drive monetization in a privacy-friendly way, while enabling buyers to boost the quality and scale of online ad targeting campaigns. As an advocate for consumer control and participation, the company also launched the BlueKai Registry in September, which enables consumers to see what marketers know about them, edit their online preferences and gain rewards for charitable donations.

BlueKai data buyers include half of the top 20 online and video ad networks and several of the top publishers who leverage data on-demand to boost the scale and quality of ad targeting across their websites or networks. Sellers of anonymous commercial data include only the top online travel transaction sites, online retailers and auto research destinations. In a recent auto campaign powered by BlueKai data, InterCLICK, the fastest growing ad network in the US, recorded response rates that were two to three times greater than traditional or contextual targeting.
